Four schools participating in Milwaukee's private school voucher program failed to comply with state requirements and did not receive their payments this fall. Three schools missed the deadline for filing financial reports. A fourth school does not have an occupancy permit for its building. The Department of Public Instruction withheld the first round of payments to the four schools until they comply with the law. This school year, 122 schools are participating in the voucher program. Schools receive approximately $6,000 for each student. Last year, 14 schools did not
receive their fall payments on schedule because they failed to file financial
reports. |
